Laser cutting is a technique of cutting material using laser light, usually used in industrial manufacturing applications, but also beginning to be used by schools, small businesses and hobbyists. Laser light cutting works by directing the output of a high power laser light, usually through an optical system. The laser light used in laser light cutting is controllable monochromatic light with high intensity and high energy density. It can generate huge power density by focusing through the optical system, and use CNC (computer numerical control) to guide the material or the generated laser beam to make high-energy The laser beam is irradiated on the processed part of the workpiece to complete the processing. A typical commercial laser used to cut material involves a motion control system following a CNC or G-code for the pattern to be cut into the material. A focused laser beam is directed at the material, which is then melted, burned, vaporized, or blown away by a jet of gas, leaving an edge with a high-quality surface finish. Industrial laser cutting machines are used to cut flat sheet materials as well as structural and piping materials.

The light intensity of the laser light is very high, and it can process almost all metal and non-metal materials, not only high hardness and high melting point materials, but also brittle and flexible materials. Since laser processing is non-contact processing, it does not need to use metal cutters or abrasive tools to work.
